Lee Tate

1959 Topps

A career minor leaguer, Tate played in 51 games for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1958-59. He struggled at the plate, hitting just .165 over the two seasons. He did manage to hit a home run during his limited stay in the big leagues. He played over 1,600 games in the minor leagues. As you can see on his questionnaire, he said Stan Musial was his favorite player growing up, so one must assume it was something of a thrill for him to play for the Cardinals, with Musial, who was his teammate both years.
