
Malkmus played six seasons in the big leagues, coming up with the Milwaukee Braves in 1957 and finishing with the Phillies in 1962. A career .215 hitter, Malkmus had one season as a starter, 1961, when he played 121 games for Philadelphia. He hit .231 that season, which was his career high. He also posted career highs in RBI (31), runs scored (39) and home runs (7). Following his time in the majors, Malkmus worked as a minor league manager and a scout for the Indians and Padres until the mid-2000’s.
