Starting some mass mailings today. With Letters From Home Plate letterhead paper and everything! Will see how the guys respond to a computer-printed form letter. Hopefully it does not hurt the return rate. So, 10 going out to; Felipe Alou, Ed Acosta, Gene Alley, Sal Bando, Mike Aldrete, Steve Whitaker, Eddie Watt, Pete Ward, Rudy May and Don Young.

As the baseball cards move closer to the 1970’s you get fewer of the interesting player facts on the back. But here are the ones that were included in this group.

  • Young – Don first signed with the Cardinals, was claimed on waivers by the Cubs, sold back to the Cardinals and then again to the Cubs.
  • Whitaker – Steve once won a Home Run championship with just 4 homers.
  • Bando – Sal, Reggie Jackson and Rick Monday were all teammates in college.
  • May – Rudy K’d 9 straight batters in a game, 6-2-64.
