Swings and misses

Three more returned without a completed survey.

Yount

I took a shot with the Hall of Famer because I’d read he was sometimes agreeable to such things. Alas, it did not work out. Still, he sent this cool autographed picture, so it’s not like I came away empty handed.

59Hemus

1959 Topps

Hemus’ card came back unsigned with a blank questionnaire and a note from his wife saying he is too sick to write. An infielder, Hemus played 11 years in the majors, mostly with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was later the team’s manager for two seasons. Unfortunately, he passed away on Oct. 2, 2017 in Houston.
