
Carpin appeared in 49 big league games over a two-year span in the mid 1960’s. He came up with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1965, pitching in 39 games, compiling a record of 3-1 with three saves and a 3.18 ERA. He finished 13 games for the Pirates that season. He went to the Houston Astros in 1966 and pitched in 10 games with much worse results. Carpin got a win for Houston, but had a 7.50 ERA and spent most of the year in the minor leagues. He was out of baseball the following season.
