
Rau went 81-60 with a 3.35 ERA during nine years in the big leagues. He pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1972-1979, then returned to the majors in 1981 for a brief stint with the California Angels. From 1974-1978 he won 13 or more games for the Dodgers. He was 15-9 with a career-high 151 strike outs in 257 innings pitched in 1975. Rau then posted 16 wins in 1976 to go with a 2.57 ERA.
While he does not list a favorite memory, Rau pitched in six playoff games for the Dodgers. He made a start in the 1977 World Series, taking a loss against the New York Yankees. He pitched two scoreless innings for the Dodgers in the 1978 World Series, also against the Yankees.
