Chuck Seelbach

1974 Topps

Seelbach spent just four seasons in the big leagues, all of them with the Detroit Tigers. He was an integral part of Detroit’s pitching staff in 1972, going 9-8 with a 2.89 ERA and 14 saves in 61 games. He pitched 112 innings that year and finished 34 games, helping the Tigers reach the ALCS. He was on the mound when Detroit beat Boston to clinch the American League East (which he mentions on his questionnaire). He pitched in two games of the ALCS which the Tigers lost to the Oakland A’s. Seelbach suffered a shoulder injury the following year and pitched in just five games for Detroit. He appeared in four more in 1974 before calling it quits.
