One of the 100-oldest-living players, Held pitched in four games for the Baltimore Orioles in 1956. He threw three scoreless innings in his first appearances, but then was tagged for four earned runs in his next four innings and was sent back to the minors. He finished with a 4.37 ERA in seven big-league innings. Held continued to pitch in the minors though the 1959 season.


Held had a 13-year career in the minors, winning 131 games. He was 24-7 with a 2.87 ERA for the San Antonio Missions in 1955.
