
A Pittsburgh Pirates bonus baby, Pritchard played in 23 games for the Pirates in 1957, getting one hit in 11 at bats. He scored a run and struck out four times in his brief career. Pritchard played in the minors for Pittsburgh from 1958-1965. He hit 12 home runs in Single A in 1960 and had a .304 average in Double A in 1964. However, he never again returned to the big leagues.
Following his playing career Pritchard was a scout for the Pirates and the Chicago Cubs.
He was an All-American in college at the University of Southern California where he played for legendary coach Rod Dedeaux. Dedeaux coached the Trojans for 45 years and won 1,332 games.
