
Burnside pitched in 19 big-league games for the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers, going 2-1 with a 6.00 ERA. He came up with Detroit in 1978, then got his first win in 1979. Detroit traded him to Cincinnati for Champ Summers and Burnside appeared in seven games for the Reds in 1980, earning his other win. That year, however, would be the end of his professional career.
