Barry Evans

Between 1978-1982, Evans played in 224 games for the San Diego Padres and New York Yankees, hitting .251 with two home runs. His best year was 1981 while playing for San Diego. He hit .323 that season in 54 games. The Padres sold him to New York following the season and he appeared in 17 games for the Yankees in 1982. Evans played professionally from 1977-1986.


Evans first game was September 4, 1978 in Atlanta against the Braves. He started at third base for the Padres and hit third against Atlanta starter Larry McWilliams. Evans had three hits in six at bats in the game, collecting his first big league RBI and run scored and helping Gaylord Perry and the Padres to an 8-4 win.
