
Knox played in 124 games for the Detroit Tigers from 1972-1975, hitting .274 with no home runs. He saw action in 55 games in 1974 and hit a solid .307 with 11 runs scored and six RBIs. He played in 43 games the next year and hit .267. He returned to the minors in 1976 for what would be his last season as a professional.
Knox appeared as a pinch runner in Game 5 of the 1972 American League Championship Series against the Oakland A’s. The Tigers lost the series in five games.
