
Smith pitched for 13 years in the big leagues, going 108-94 with a 3.53 ERA while playing for the Montreal Expos, St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies from 1981-1993. Smith was 18-5 with a 2.91 ERA for the Expos in 1985. This was easily his best year. He strung together a string of six straight dougle-digit win seasons from 1984-1989 while playing for Montreal. He also won 12 games for the Cardinals in 1991.
Smith got the first ever win for the Colorado Rockies when he pitched seven innings to beat his former team, the Expos, on April 9, 1993.
