
Khalifa played in 164 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates between 1985-1987. In 488 at bats, he hit .219 with two home runs. He was the Pirates starting shortstop for the majority of his rookie season. He appeared in 95 games that year and hit .238 with both his home runs. However, his average dropped below .200 in 1987 and never rose above that mark again. His professional career lasted from 1982-1989.
Khalifa is the first man of Egyptian descent to play in the majors.
