Dave Tobik

Tobik pitched for eight seasons in the majors, playing from 1978-1985 for the Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers. In 196 games he posted a 14-23 record with a 3.70 ERA and 28 saves. Tobik twice saved nine games in a season, first for the Tigers in 1982, then for the Rangers in 1983.

Tobik pitched in his first game on August 26, 1978, at Tiger Stadium against the Milwaukee Brewers. He entered the game in the second inning in relief of Jack Billingham. He threw three innings and gave up six hits and three runs. Milwaukee won the game 9-5.

Before reaching the big leagues, Tobik pitched for Ohio University. He is a member of the Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame.
